Moroccan painter and poet Mahi Binebine, currently residing in Paris, has an exhibition in the archeological Museum of Silves in Portugal. Binebine's exhibition is a showcase of his paintings, in which colors of his hometown and the western world he lives in are mixed.
Mahi Binebine was born in 1959 and grew up in a house in Marrakech. He went to the University of Paris in Jussieu to study mathematics. After graduating in 1985, Binebine spent eight years working as a maths teacher. During this period, he began to take an intense interest in painting and literature. Since 1987, his pictures have been shown in various exhibitions including the permanent collection at the Guggenheim in New York. <i>Le Matin</i> reports that after the exhibition in Portugal, Binebine will have another exhibition in Lisbon in October.
