Iran's ambassador to Italy and accredited envoy to Malta, Bahram Qasemi, on Wednesday in Valletta presented a copy of his credentials to the Maltese Foreign Minister Joe Borge.

In the course of the meeting, the Iranian official said Tehran attaches great importance to the enrichment of both countries mutual ties, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency.

Appreciating the idea of "Dialogue among Civilizations" initially proposed by Iranian President Mohammad Khatami, Borge stressed his government's interest in upgrading bilateral cooperation with Tehran.

Furthermore, he invited Iran's minister of economy and finance to visit Malta, and conveyed that an exchange visit by the two countries' officials can help strengthen relations. (Albawaba.com)
