The "Certain Glance" section of the 58th international Film Festival of Cannes, scheduled to take place from May 11 to 22, agreed to host two additional films in its program: "Marock" of the Moroccan Laila Marrakchi and "Eli, Eli, Lema Sabachtani" of Aoyama Shinji (Japan).
Cannes' "Certain Glance" section is aimed at enabling young scenario writers to enter the International Festival. It is going to host this year some 20 films, representing about 15 countries, and its jury will be chaired by the American director and scenario writer, Alexander Payne.
Laila Marrakchi was born in 1975 in Casablanca. She holds a DEA in cinematographic and audio-visual studies from the University Paris. She served as an assistant director in the making of a number of films, reports <i>EMarrakech</i> and directed her first short film "The Lost Horizon", in 2000.
