The city of Marrakech has received a dignified representation at the International Festival of University Music (FIMU) in Belfort, France last month. The festival, which hosts various music formations from all around the world, is unique in the sense that the formations and groups, which it hosts, are primarily composed of students, academicians and music schools pupils.
The FIMU was created in 1986 and initiated by students at Belfort. The festival's 18th edition in 2004 hosted about 2000 musicians from 36 countries and gathered a crowed of more than 62,000 viewers. The 19th and last edition in 2005 hosted about 2300 musicians, coming from 37 countries.
Among the musicians who took part in this year's edition of the festival was Al-Farabi Ensemble, which represented the Al-Farabi Association of the Musicale Culture of Marrakech.
