Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler, Minister of Finance and Industry, received in Dubai on Saturday the members of the General Assembly of the Middle East and North Africa special Olympiad for the disabled, led by Ismail Othman.
According to Emirates News Agency, during the meeting, the chairman and members extended their thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Hamdan and relevant authorities for their ongoing support for people with special needs.
In this regard, they praised the means and facilities provided by the country, at both the official and public levels, extended to people with special needs, whose integration in society calls for special care as well as moral and physical rehabilitation.
In return, Sheikh Hamdan welcomed the UAE's hosting and organization of the special Olympiad in the year 2004 and ordered the Dubai disabled club's name to be changed to the Dubai Club for people with special needs.
In addition, he also hailed the efforts made by the clubs and centers dealing with the rehabilitation of people with special needs and enabling them to learn and train in many different areas of work. Dr. Khalifa Mohammed Ahmed, Director of the Dubai Ruler’s Court, participated in the meeting as well. (Albawaba.com)
