minister of labour calls for greater cooperation between government and private sector to achieve emiratisation goals
H.E. Dr. Ali Bin Abdullah Al Ka'abi presides meeting of Tanmia’s Board of Trustees as Chairman of Board
H.E. Dr. Ali Bin Abdullah Al Ka'abi, UAE Minister of Labour and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority, has highlighted the need for greater cooperation between the government and the private sector to maximise employment opportunities for UAE Nationals. H.E. Dr. Al Ka’abi’s comments were made during the meeting of Tanmia’s Board of Trustees held in Dubai recently.
During the Board of Trustees meeting – the third for 2007 – Tanmia’s major achievements in the year were highlighted, in addition to discussions about its financial position, budget for 2008, the funds and donations received during 2007, its on-going activities and its plan for 2008.
“Tanmia has achieved most of its objectives for 2007, and during the course of the year, a significant number of UAE Nationals were employed across various sectors. The rapid pace of UAE’s economic growth, the availability of a greater pool of qualified and talented Nationals, and a genuine effort on the part of the private sector have resulted in more Nationals finding suitable employment. However, there is still room for improved cooperation between the government and private sector in the UAE to maximise job opportunities for UAE Nationals,” said H.E. Dr. Al Ka’abi.
The minister also stressed the need for close cooperation between different entities specialised in the National human resource sector at both the federal and local levels, such as Tanmia, the Abu Dhabi Emiratisation Council, the Emirates National Development Program, the Committee for Human Resource Development in the Banking Sector and the Human Resources Directorate – Government of Sharjah, to achieve various common objectives, including building a unified database of UAE National jobseekers; informing National jobseekers about the qualifications required for private sector jobs; encouraging the business sector to hire more Nationals; and assisting the government in its efforts to provide adequate training in line with existing job market requirements.
The Board concluded the meeting with a brief review of the on-going activities aimed at enhancing links between Tanmia and the business community generally, and sectors targeted by the Emiratisation initiatives in particular.
