Mohammed Bin Rashid Program for Leadership Development visits University of Washington, Microsoft facilities

Young Leaders Program delegates from Dubai hold dialogues with top corporate executives and veteran government officials

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Program for Leadership Development (MBRPLD), an innovative leadership program aimed at developing national leaders who are willing and able to promote the sustainable development of the UAE, has announced that it has recently conducted a series of meetings with top executives from the academe, business and governmental institutions in the USA. The activities involved candidates of MBRPLD's Young Leaders Program, who are in the final leg of their international educational tour in Seattle, USA.

In a gathering hosted by the University of Washington, experts from the academe led the Young Leaders Program participants in an in-depth discussion on the development opportunities as well as potential hindrances in a number of key economic sectors such as aviation, real estate, tourism, and research & development. The delegates, led by Mr. Adel Al Shared, Director MBRPLD, also visited the Microsoft headquarters in Seattle and had a dinner-meeting with District Governor Bill On along with members of the Seattle City Council.

The veteran government executives discussed the government's role in collaborative efforts with the private sector to improve the socioeconomic standing, while Microsoft senior officials, led by the Microsoft Vice President, briefed the future leaders of Dubai on the factors being considered by Microsoft in choosing areas to invest in. The Microsoft executives also highlighted Dubai's strategic location, world-class infrastructure and long-term strategic plan as the key factors why Microsoft chose to set up a regional headquarters in the emirate.

"This study visit is by far one of the most informative of all the activities under the Young Leaders Program. The amount and quality of information that has been passed on by such an elite and highly distinguished group of speakers will definitely deliver a strong impression on these young, aspiring leaders. In addition, it will help future leaders ask questions on wide-ranging issues and motivate them to come up with solutions to different situations they will face in various fields. We are looking forward to consolidating the lessons that have been learned from this trip and correlate them with the roles these young candidates will play as future leaders of Dubai and the UAE," said Adel Al Shared, MBRPLD Director and Executive Council Director of National's Development.
