According to Moroccan police sources the major move against drug traffickers in the country is continuing at full speed. The Moroccan police and border guards have already seized considerable catches of drugs over the past few weeks and describe the push so far as a big success.
Many of the seizes have been made in Tanger and Ksar-El-kebir but the search is being concentrated on areas where the drugs are grown, principally the mountainous areas of the country and certain northern provinces.
Although many Moroccans survive on money made by growing drugs, the Moroccan government has made a strategic decision that it is in the country’s long term interests to heed the pleas of the EU to halt the flow of drugs into Europe.
