The Moroccan community in Orissa is reported to be safe and sound, according to the Moroccan news agency. The small community of Moroccans, numbering only five families, living in Orissa escaped the storms.
The Moroccans work for the Moroccan Phosphate Company and are based 500 km to the south of the city of Kolkatta. The Moroccan news agency made contact with them to express solidarity in the time of crisis.
Morocco is one of the world's leading phosphates producers.
