It was harder than expected but all's well that ends well for Morocco.
The Moroccan Olympic football team will play in Sidney this summer after beating yesterday the Ivory Coast 2-1 in Rabat. This will be the fifth time the Moroccan football team will participate in the Olympic games (previous participation was in 1964, 1972, 1984 and 1992). Egypt who hoped to get the ticket for Australia, thrashed 3-0 Tunisia in Susa, but will have to watch the games through the TV screens.
Morocco won the African qualification group C with 13 points while Egypt followed with 11 points. Ivory Coast finished third with 8 points and Tunisia placed forth with just 1 point, a Sharq al Awsat daily reports.
Morocco controlled the game but the visitors unexpectedly took the lead on the 26th minute by Dandani, al Anbaa daily adds. However, the Moroccan players' response was quick and before the first half ended the score was already 2-1 from goals scored by Abd al Fatah al Khatari (30th minute) and Karim Bankwar (42nd).
