Morocco earthquake toll rises to 1,037

ALBAWABA - In the aftermath of the devastating 7-magnitude earthquake that struck Morocco, the Moroccan Ministry of Interior has officially confirmed an increase in the death toll.

The latest reports indicate that the earthquake in Marrakech has tragically claimed the lives of 1,037 individuals, with an additional 1,024 reported as injured, including 721 classified as severe cases.

Ongoing search and rescue operations are being carried out by Moroccan Armed Forces, local authorities, security teams, and civil defense units. The collective effort is also focused on delivering crucial humanitarian aid to the affected regions.

With reports of tremors felt in various cities, including the capital Rabat, Casablanca, Meknes, Agadir, and Fes.

Previously, the Moroccan Ministry of Interior had initially reported 820 fatalities and 672 injuries resulting from the catastrophic earthquake in the El-Houz region of Marrakech.
