mubadala signs mou with cae for flight integrated training system

Mubadala Development Company PJSC (Mubadala), a strategic investment and development vehicle established and wholly-owned by the Government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with leading simulation technologies and integrated training solutions provider CAE to develop a fully integrated flight training system – a key training component that will complement the emirate’s ongoing aerospace strategy.

The MoU sets a collaboration framework for the development of a holistic flight training system, including a multi-crew pilot (MPL) based Ab Initio flight training program to address the commercial requirements of Mubadala’s existing assets in aerospace, as well as the regional requirements that are in growing demand. CAE is committed to the agreement which outlines collaboration to establish a synthetic training center that delivers type ratings for commercial aircrafts, business jets and helicopter platforms as well as potential military platforms.

The MoU was signed at the Dubai Airshow by Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi, COO of Mubadala, and CAE’s Marc Parent, Group President, Simulation Products and Military Training & Services. Also in attendance at the ceremony was the Canadian Ambassador, Her Excellency Sara Hradecky.

“Initially we will focus our co-operation on the UAE, the Middle East and North Africa but we may well embrace an even greater global relationship,” said Al Muhairi. “Mubadala is interested in leveraging existing capabilities and solutions such as Etihad’s simulator facility and Horizon’s well established training programs. These types of synergies will boost our ability to meet increasing market demand.

“As Abu Dhabi’s aviation infrastructure gathers pace with the expansion of Etihad Airways, the Amiri Flight, Royal Jet, Abu Dhabi Aviation and other local entities, local demand for training and synthetic training devices is on a rapid upward curve. In working with CAE we have selected a partner of proven world-class capabilities.”
