NATO to discuss Afghanistan’s security challenges, extending mission

The foreign ministers of NATO and partner countries are meeting today (Monday) in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, the alliance said.

A source close to NATO’s civilian office in Afghanistan told Pajhwok Afghan News foreign ministers from 40 countries would participate in today’s gathering.

Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani and NATO’s civilian representative in Afghanistan Ismael Armaz will participate in the meeting.

NATO commander in Afghanistan Gen. Campbell would speak to the participants through a video conference to report on the security environment in the country.

The participants would discuss the security of Afghanistan and the extension of NATO mission beyond 2016 at the two-day meeting, the source said.
