Novartis Pharma Services AG donated US$ 200,000 to the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) which is dedicated entirely towards the planned expansion of the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC).
On this occasion, Princess Dina thanked Novartis for their ongoing support of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center through its many programs. She indicated that the donation would assist in the completion of a new state-of-the-art facility which will consist of two buildings: an outpatient building and an inpatient building.
Princess Dina added that this expansion although costly, is one of the Foundation's most vital projects as it will absorb the increase in demand for cancer care in the region. This is why KHCF is striving to raise funds for its completion. KHCC currently treats over 3,500 new cancer cases each year and receives over 100,000 outpatient visits annually. With rising cancer rates, however, it is estimated that by 2020 there will be over 7,000 new cancer cases in Jordan each year, and additional infrastructure will be needed to accommodate the rising demand for cancer care.
Mr. Osama Braiwish, Country Head in Jordan expressed his appreciation for the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center and their efforts to provide patients in Jordan and the region with the best possible cancer care, emphasizing that Novartis will continue to support KHCF and its life-saving mission.
