A blast in the house of a Hamas activist killed him and wounded 16 of his relatives and neighbors, Palestinian health officials said Saturday. According to the AP, doctors said two were in critical condition.
The Palestinian Interior Ministry conveyed it's investigating the cause of the explosion at the home of Hamas activist Nader Abu Shaban. Hamas officials say Abu Shaban was handling explosives just before the explosion.
Meanwhile, Palestinian sources said the Israeli army struck a Hamas cell near Khan Yunis early Saturday morning. No injuries were reported in this incident.
