Oxford Business Group (OBG), the prestigious UK-based publishing, research and consultancy services organization, has appointed Cristina Franco as its Dubai Director.
Franco, will oversee all aspects of OBG’s The Report: Dubai 2008, which will be available in print form or online, and will provide in-depth analysis of the domestic and foreign political landscape, macroeconomic policy and sectoral developments, and is considered to be one of the region’s leading publications covering foreign direct investment into the emirate.
Franco, who has been with OBG since 2004, takes up the new post after acting as OBG’s Country Director in Qatar, where she oversaw and directed the group’s annual publication on the country’s economy, and she previously worked for OBG in Egypt, Syria, Turkey and Romania.
Elizabeth Boissevain, OBG’s Director of Field Operations, said: “Dubai has undergone a profound transformation funded by oil revenues in recent decades, it has astonished the world by its development under the wise guidance of its government, and this has been recognised by so many companies around the world being drawn here to invest and run their Middle East regional operations.
“OBG is perfectly situated to offer them the quality, strategic advice they need on Dubai, and Cristina is taking on her new role at a time when the emirate is embracing an exciting era of diversification. She has gained many years of vital experience in the Middle East and particularly in the Gulf region, and her experience fits her perfectly for the role she will play in Dubai.”
Franco has an honours degree in Economy from the Autonoma University, Madrid, and specialized in International Affairs at the University Von Amsterdam during her final year. She also holds degrees in Foreign Trade and Marketing, and is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
