Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz met Friday afternoon with Palestinian Authority Civil Affairs Minister Mohammed Dahlan in Tel Aviv to discuss coordinating the so called disengagement plan. According to Haaretz, they discussed coordinating civilian aspects of the Gaza AStrip pullout, and a large part of the meeting dealt with control of the crossings between Israel and the PA after the withdrawal.

Earlier, senior Islamic Jihad leader Nafez Azzam said that the release of two Islamic Jihad activists from the PA-controlled Jericho prison was a positive step.

Azzam told RNA that during the movement's meeting with the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, they demanded the release of their activists who were imprisoned in Jericho following a suicide bombing in Tel Aviv last February.

"We demanded the release of the activists whom we believe there was no justification for arresting them because they didn't do anything. The President promised to release the prisoners in the Palestinian Authority's Jericho prison, and today two were released," Azzam said.

Azzam described the release of those prisoners as "positive sign", pointing out that the release of all the prisoners would be important to bolster the domestic Palestinian front and maintain unity.
