ALBAWABA - Due to intense Israeli attacks, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) said Saturday it evacuated its temporary headquarters in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
In a post on X, the PRCS wrote: "As part of ongoing efforts to prepare the PRCS headquarters in northern Gaza and reactivate the ambulance and emergency center,".
"PRCS volunteers and staff, who arrived a week ago, are working to restore relief and medical services in the area" the post added.
On Saturday, the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) revealed that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip lack basic essentials such as appropriate housing, food, medicine, and safe drinking water.
Later, in a separate statement, UN assistance worker Louise Wateridge stated that Palestinians in Gaza "need everything," adding, "These are very desperate times. The only solution is to give greater help".
Israel has received widespread outcry for defying a UN Security Council decision calling for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza. The International Court of Justice has accused Israel of genocidal intent, and its most recent verdict ordered Tel Aviv to immediately cease operations in Rafah, where over a million Palestinians sought safety from the fighting before it was attacked on May 6.
Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel
Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.
Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.
In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
The latest statistics by the Ministry of Health in Gaza revealed that the death toll from Israeli brutal pounding on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has soared to 37,765+ people, with more than 86,858+ injuries.
Since then, approximately 85% of Gazans have been displaced, all of whom are suffering from severe food insecurity, and the healthcare system has collapsed. Hundreds of thousands of people lack shelter, and aid trucks are entering the area at a lower rate than before the conflict began.
