Israeli forces on Wednesday detained a 14-year-old Palestinian at a military checkpoint near the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron’s Old City, the mosque director said.

Munthir Abu al-Feilat told Ma’an that Israeli soldiers stopped the teen and took him into custody after they said he was carrying a knife.

The forces ordered the teen to remove his clothes before transferring him to an Israeli police station by the mosque, al-Feilat said.

An Israeli army spokesperson had no information on the minor's detention, but told Ma'an that four Palestinians were detained overnight in the Hebron area for "illegal activity."

Local sources told Ma'an that dozens of Israeli soldiers stormed the Jabal al-Rahma neighborhood and Beersheba Street of Hebron overnight and ransacked several Palestinian homes, causing damages to their interiors.

The Old City where the teen was detained Wednesday after allegedly carrying a knife has been site to several attacks on Israeli military over the past month.

Nearly 30 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in the Hebron district during clashes and attacks since Oct. 1, several of whom rights groups say were shot dead despite not posing any threat at the time of their death.

Hebron's Palestinian residents have come under harsh measures from Israeli authorities over the past month including large-scale arbitrary detention, sealing of entrances into Palestinian towns and villages, and invasive and humiliating security checks on individuals at checkpoints.
