Panasonic, the leading global manufacturer of consumer electronics, announced its Middle East launch of 65-inch plasma TV, the TH-65PV500, at a press conference today (Wednesday, March 8) at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Dubai.
Speaking at the event, Seiji Koyanagi, Managing Director, Panasonic Marketing Middle East said, “Panasonic is totally committed to Plasma technology and testimony to this is the introduction of Viera 65 inch plasma television in the Middle-east today. Launch of this Viera 65-inch television is a significant milestone for Panasonic, as we look to further enhance our production capacity and manufacture plasma television with larger screen sizes. Plasma technology is the future of television, both globally and regionally and Panasonic aims to be the largest plasma television manufacturer in the world.”
The large 65-inch display highlights unique characteristics of plasma television such as excellent handling of fast-paced movement, dynamic contrast, bright crisp images and natural colors. Viera incorporates a Deep Black Filter on the surface of the protection glass to suppress external glare and reflection. Panasonic's own Real Black Drive System provides an excellent contrast ratio in dark areas, achieving exceptionally deep and rich blacks. The TH-65PV500 is equipped with Viera’s patented Motion Pattern Noise Reduction that detects and optimizes noise-generating motion patterns, resulting in clear sharp images with outstanding gradation, even under a barrage of movement.
The global demand for plasma television is estimated to touch 10 million units by the end of 2006, and hit 25 million by 2010. Panasonic is aiming for 40 percent of the world’s plasma television market by 2010 by achieving a sale of 10 million units.
Shimpei Tsujigami, Product Manager, Panasonic Marketing Middle East said, " We have capitalized on our expertise in developing and mass-producing the 65-inch plasma televisions with spectacular entertainment features like vibrant pictures, outstanding sound, networking, design and usability. The TH-65PV500 reaffirms Panasonic’s standing as premier provider of flat screen television.”
“By dramatically boosting digital processing precision, the TH-65PV500’s VIERA Colour Management System helps deliver images optimally suited to the characteristics of the display. The result is superior gradation, sharp images with outstanding detail and minimal noise. The screen has a precise 3D Colours Management System that ensures uniform brightness and consistent vibrancy in colour across a large viewing angle,” he added.
The Viera 65 inch Plasma television comes with an easy-to-use remote control. It also has an HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) port for easy single-wire digital audio and video connection. The panels have a long life of about 60,000 hours.
“The market for high-quality screens is growing due to consumers and business becoming more discerning in matters of visual quality. Plasma and LCD are both important facets of the high-resolution television market, and Panasonic will be offering an enhanced range of products for both lines. Panasonic’s global strategy is to concentrate on plasma technology for larger screen sizes over 37 inches and LCD technology for smaller screen sizes below 32 inches,” Koyanagi concluded.
