Ports Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), held an inaugural awards ceremony on Monday afternoon to honor the outstanding contribution of staff and administrative systems to business advancement.

The Awards, held at the Godolphin Ballroom of Emirates Towers Hotel were presented by PCFC Chairman, H.E. Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem during the Business Excellence 2006 ceremony and luncheon. Recipients of the awards were those nominated for the Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP) which is under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.  Although many departments received platitudes for their efforts in contributing to the overall efficiency and profitability of the organization, it was the Group Suggestion and Reward Scheme (SRS), which was especially honored with an award for Distinguished Administrative Experiment.

With recognition for industry initiatives on both a local and international scale SRS encourages suggestions from employees that create budget reprisals, improve work practices, infrastructure, business processes, employee welfare, and that also and support environmental programs.
Having secured five international awards and two local awards over the last three years, the employee incentive scheme continues to be an endless source of innovation which is ultimately reflected in increased annual revenue returns and greater business efficiency. Since its inception in 2000, the scheme has generated over AED 256 million in savings and income, inspiring other organizations throughout the UAE to follow suit.

Mr. Ahmed A. Hussain, CEO of EHS and Chairman of the Group SRS commented on the award, "I am proud to represent SRS in receiving this award for distinguished administrative experiment, and am confident in the ongoing effectiveness of SRS in maintaining and improving on business practices and employee welfare."
