A police officer was found shot dead in his car outside his home in the northern Zghorta village of Miryata early Monday, a security source said.
The source told The Daily Star Chief Warrant Officer Ghassan Ajaj had been shot in the head with a single bullet.
Police launched an investigation to determine the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.
Ajaj, who died instantaneously, was head of the Internal Security Forces Information Branch in Miryata.
