Mariam Marhoun has designed her way past 800 hopeful designers to be crowned the youngest fashion designer inspired by Poupée Couture. Mariam Marhoun from Bahrain was the clear winner in the competition earning her mother and herself bags created and inspired by her own design.
The online competition was organized by Braun, as part of its initiative to promote the Silk-Epil Starter Pack for girls that would like to look stylish every day without worrying about pain as it is less painful than Halawa. Young girls created their own personal handbag designs by either uploading their designs onto the website or using the website design application dedicated to the handbag competition.
The design was selected and brought to life by Roula Ghalayini, Poupée Couture Founder and Fashion Designer. She created two custom bags based on the winning design, one for Mariam and one for the mother Shukriya “I am very happy to be part of this competition that helps the young designers bond with their mothers. What caught my eye in Mariam’s design was her use of the flower, which is a profoundly feminine symbol. This flower was abstracted into its basic geometric shapes of concentric circles held together by metallic studs, both consistent with Poupée Couture’s trademark use of metal, as well as the season’s punk trend,” said Roula Ghalayini.
“We are so proud of Mariam, this was the last thing we expected to happen. She is always drawing a variety of designs at home, only this time we decided to have her share her designs. After hearing of the competition, we thought it would be a great opportunity for our family and friends to see our girl design her own bag” said Shukriya Mariam’s mother.
“The competition was aimed to boost and maintain the bond mothers have with their daughters as they step into adulthood.
