US Secretary of State Colin Powell cancelled a planned visit to the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek on Saturday because of bad weather, US officials travelling with Powell said in Tashkent.
Powell had been due to stop off briefly in Kyrgyzstan before flying on to Kazakhstan later Saturday, but US officials said poor weather conditions had made it necessary to rethink the route before leaving the Uzbek capital.
The US secretary of state would now fly directly from Tashkent to the Kazakh capital Astana, they added, before travelling on to Moscow late Sunday -- AFP
