Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) is promoting entrepreneurship development through the Princess Sumaya National Entrepreneurship Competition (PSNEC).  The initial launch was developed at Jordan’s ICT Forum last October, in which an entrepreneurship development initiative fell within the overall objective of commercializing technology and adding long-term value to the Jordanian economy. Therefore, as an advocate of education for the next generation and future working force of Jordan, PSUT developed a competition that challenges university students to apply their university skills and utilize their knowledge and resources to develop an efficient, effective and successful business.

The mission of PSNEC is to increase the interest of Jordanian university students to realize their future. PSNEC’s vision on the other hand centers more towards evolving and expanding comprehensive entrepreneurship abilities through fostering creativity, facilitating the establishment of successful business ventures and thus affecting the cultural orientation of the Jordanian community.

Mr. Mohammad Asfour, advisor to the board of trustees PSUT stated, “Those who join the competition will not only build entrepreneurship skills, but practical and life skills such as decision making, problem solving teamwork, leadership, healthy competition, professionalism and presentation skills.

Through this experience the participants may develop their business and personal skills so they may be active, professional and successful players in Jordan’s future economy.”

The competition targets all students in Jordanian universities who are either in the undergraduate or post-graduate programs.  The students must be inspired, competitive, motivated and ambitious as they gather the courage to implement practical and professional business.    Prospective contestants may apply in the first week of August in hope to win one of the five first positions that will receive the sum of 25,000 JD .

The competition is mainly managed by PSUT students who are committed and seek professionalism and development for their own personal growth as well as their peers.  The students are supervised by the PSNEC board which consists of national and international members from both the private and public sectors. This includes the head of MIT's Entrepreneurship Center, YEA, The Arab Venture Capital Association, UNIDO, NAFES, JUMP, iPARK and two leading serial entrepreneurs.
