The Dubai Traffic Department will set up a private establishment to test driving license applicants, said the Gulf News, quoting Brig. Abdul Rahman Rafi', Director of the department.

The center, which aims to reduce the waiting list of applicants, will employ retired policemen who will be authorized to sign documents for successful drivers.

It will also help to break down psychological barriers between policemen and the public, said the daily.

"The retired officers can work day and night shifts in accordance with a schedule to be agreed later," Rafi' told the paper.

The center will be open to all retired police officers, men and women, who wish to join it, it added – Albawaba.com
