Ramadan Campaign Provides Call Rates as Low as 0.29 per Minute to Anywhere in the World!
To celebrate the Holy Month of Ramadan, Qtel is offering Shahry Value Pack customers the lowest international call rates ever enjoyed in Qatar or the wider region.
In the spirit of Ramadan, Qtel is enhancing the value offered by Shahry Value Packs, with customers now able to make international calls using their monthly free minute allowance. As a result, effective call rates with Shahry Value Packs are now as low as QR 0.29 per minute.
The promotion runs from 12 midnight on Thursday night, through to 30 September, and is being automatically made available to every existing Shahry Value Pack customer.
The promotion follows on from Qtel’s hugely successful 2008 campaign for Ramadan, which provided a reduction in local call rates of up to 50 percent.

“These rates are among the most competitive in the world, because we understand that our customers want to stay connected during the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid Holidays. This is the first of a series of promotions that we will be announcing over the next month, and we will make sure there is something for everybody – Hala, Shahry and entertainment customers,” he added.
One of the main attractions of the Qtel promotion is that customers can use their allocated call minutes, provided with every Shahry Value Pack, for international and local calls at the same effective rate.
With the new offer, customers with the Shahry 575 Value Pack can use any of their 2,000 call minutes for both local and international calls. This means staggeringly low effective call rates of QR 0.29 per minute – the lowest international call rate in the history of Qatar.
Customers using the Shahry 300 Value Pack, which provides 1,000 call minutes every month, will have an effective call rate of QR 0.30 per minute for international and local calls, while Shahry 200 Value Pack customers can use their 600 call minutes for international and local calls at an effective call rate of QR 0.33 per minute.
Even the most affordable Shahry Value Pack available, the Shahry 130, will provide 300 minutes at an effective call rate of 0.43 per minute – great value for international and local calling.
In addition, Shahry Value Packs continue to offer bundles of free SMS, MMS and MBs of Internet downloads, as well as benefits like the “One Free Number” for Shahry 300 and Shahry 575 Value Packs, which enables customers to call one number for free for life.
Qtel has also built-in a rollover facility, so that customers can still deploy unused minutes as part of the next month’s allowance. If people exceed their limit, they are charged normal Shahry rates.
New customers and Hala customers can apply for Shahry Value Packs easily, with a Qatari ID, and have a huge range of payment options available – no credit card is required. Existing Shahry customers can subscribe to any of the four available Shahry Value Packs by calling 111, or visiting any of Qtel’s shops or premium dealers across the country.
Customers converting from the Hala Pay As You Talk service do not pay a fee for the Shahry Value Packs. The connection fee for new account holders has been reduced from QR200 to only QR50.
