The Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone Authority (RAK FTZ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today, with the RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry to enhance commercial and economic cooperation between the two departments.

The Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce also opened a branch office at the premises of the RAK FTZ to offer the zone's customers the highest level of service possible under one roof saving the zone's clients time, money and effort.

The MOU was signed by Oussama El Omari, the CEO of the RAK FTZ, and Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Shayeb Al Naqbi, the Director General of the RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Business Centre of the RAK FTZ.

The MOU focused on expanding trade and investment cooperation. Both sides pledged to make further efforts to boost economic cooperation that will lure investments, promote economic growth, and develop the zone's services and facilities offered regionally and internationally.

El Omari said the 15-article MOU stipulates that both sides should play prominent roles in promoting the business opportunities available in the emirate. Both sides will be responsible for introducing potential investors from around the world to the state-of-the art services and facilities in Ras Al Khaimah. As per the articles of the MOU, the two departments should join forces in organizing marketing campaigns in the UAE and outside it to promote products, take part in promotional fairs and exhibitions and jointly receive visiting business delegations.

Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Shayeb Al Naqbi, the Director General of the RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed confidence that the economic partnership and cooperation between RAK FTZ and the RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry have received new momentum and have developed even closer ties following the signature of the MOU which will create close interaction between officials of both sides. "Both departments will join forces, deepen cooperation and work in joint projects," he said.

"A steering and follow-up committee will be set up immediately to drive the process of development and coordinate efforts of the two sides in all projects under negotiation and review," he said.

"Because the RAK FTZ is committed to quality and to its desire to achieve ultimate customer satisfaction, a new Chamber of Commerce and Industry branch office was inaugurated at the zone's premises to enable customers to issue the relative necessary certificates under one roof," said El Omari.

"As per the articles of the MOU, both departments will regularly exchange information and basic data regarding the companies and business activities in a way that serves the emirate's economic growth and achieves mutual benefits," he said.

El Omari highlights the importance of such as MOU between the various departments in Ras Al Khaimah, saying, "this MOU consolidates our joint efforts to address the economic, commercial and investment issues in the emirate and aims to ensure our cooperation continues to take place to tap the full potential of the fast growing economy of Ras Al Khaimah," he said.
