Unidentified assailants violently stabbed the chief of election headquarters of Iranian presidential candidate Abdullah Jasbi in Islamshahr, southwestern Tehran, and set the headquarters on fire, reported the official Iranian news agency (IRNA), quoting a local report Thursday.
The daily Afarinesh, which is run by Jasbi, said the attack took place on Wednesday night at around 9:30 p.m. (1700GMT) and the victim was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.
The assailants, who forced their way into the headquarters before stabbing its chief, also destroyed campaign posters inside.
Earlier this week, the Tehran headquarters of Jasbi was also attacked and sustained damage, said IRNA.
In a similar incident, the re-election campaign headquarters of President Mohammad Khatami in the central city of Isfahan was set ablaze early on Tuesday.
The attackers also ripped campaign posters and cut off the headquarters electricity lines before getting away on motorbikes – Albawaba.com
