President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Najib Miqati agree on the need for Information Minister George Kordahi’s resignation, governmental sources said.
“They are surprised by his irresponsiveness to their calls for him to act according to his conscience and patriotic sense and to take the resignation decision,” the sources told al-Joumhouria newspaper in remarks published Monday.

Kordahi’s resignation “would allow for addressing the crisis with Saudi Arabia, which took its measures against Lebanon based on stances taken by the minister prior to his appointment and also based on clarifications that he made following the eruption of the crisis,” the sources added.
The sources also said that Kordahi has likely ignored the resignation calls due to “a host of influences, convictions and factors related to his political future and the interests of some forces that support him.”
