The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai recently conducted an ISO 9001 training program for fifteen employees of the ISO 9001-certified Public Transportation Department. The objective of the internal audit training was to develop, improve and maintain internal quality and control of the management system at RTA.
According to the new organizational structure and management principles announced by the RTA recently, it has adopted international operating standards in all its departments. In line with its policies, RTA conducts training programs to educate its employees and provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop their quality management systems, policies, perform quality management reviews, and identify and meet customer requirements. The training programs will also help in defining objectives, evaluating performances, ensuring internal communication processes are established, identifying and providing quality personnel and identifying infrastructural needs.
Dr. Khalid Hamdy, Project Advisor, Office of the Board Chairman RTA, and trainer at the program said, "Maintaining quality management in every department will inculcate professionalism and build the necessary skills required for smooth functioning. The all around training on systematic, management and resource requirements which adhere to international norms are provided to ensure that the objectives of the organization are collectively achieved. These audits are essential for the Public Transportation Department which has received the ISO 9001 certification."
Walid Jamel, a trainee at the program said," The training was insightful and interesting. It will definitely help us maintain the required management standards required for internal audits."
The ISO 9001 quality management standard will help employees clarify their responsibilities and communicate their policies to the organization while reviewing their objectives.
