A roadside bomb exploded Monday near a military vehicle in the northeastern border town of Arsal, state media reported.
The state-run National News Agency said explosion took place in Arsal's Ras al-Sarj area. A security source told The Daily Star that the area was agricultural, around 150 meters away from homes and had no army posts.
The source added that the attacker was likely just trying to send a message of mischief and did not target the Lebanese Army.
Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5) said it was informed by a military source that the army convoy was not targeted as it crossed before the bomb detonated. No casualties were reported.
There was a state of alert among the town's residents following the attack, as army vehicles were deployed to Arsal's main streets.
