Saudi Arabia on Sunday voiced support to Lebanese Prime Minister Designate Najib Mikati. This came in a phone call Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Abdel-Aziz Khoja, made to Mikati Sunday.
According to KUNA, the ambassador conveyed to Mikati greetings from Saudi Crown Prince, Abdullah Bin Abdel-Aziz and promises of continued support to Lebanon after the new government is formed.
Meanwhile, Christian Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Butros Sfeir called Sunday for forming a government whose members do not stand for legislative elections.
Speaking during a Sunday sermon, he said that "yesterday's initiative (Mikati's appointment) promises to undo the knots." He called on the new government to prepare an election law "that paves the way for ordinary citizens to vote in complete freedom for candidates they know very well."
