Sharjah Tatweer Forum (Tatweer), an initiative formed under a decree issued by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Member of the UAE Supreme Council, recently held a briefing session at the cultural centre in Khorfakkan to discuss the Forum’s role and its plans and strategies for the year 2007. The session also highlighted the success the Forum achieved in the past months to an emerging pool of young talents from across all sectors within the emirate.
Tatweer, which is managed by a board of directors works towards developing the skills and competencies of National youth in Sharjah, building partnerships between the private and public sectors, encouraging entrepreneurship, innovation and excellence in business and administration and ensuring the Emirate’s overall progress.
Hussain Al-Mahmoudi, Chairman of Sharjah Tatweer Forum, said, “Through our programmes and activities, we aim for developing the skills and competencies of the National youth in Sharjah. We also encourage entrepreneurship, innovation and excellence in business and administration and encourage the National youth to invest in small and medium-sized enterprises.”
The decision to hold briefing session in Khorfakkan was based on recommendations put forward by members of the forum during a workshop held in December, 2006, at Qanat Al Qasba in Sharjah. Several members participated in the workshop where they analysed opportunities to come in 2007 in addition to discussing ideas and suggestions that would form the basis for their work plan and programmes in the coming year in addition to enhancing their contribution to the Forum activities.
The session shed light on the Forum’s future plans for developing leadership and management skills of young talents by synergising government resources with private sector expertise and launching initiatives that facilitate the implementation of projects. Attendees also discussed the possibility of extending their support to projects as they could gain experience and be exposed to best practices and volunteer work. Young talents in the eastern region were encouraged to become members in the forum and subsequently enhance their participation in the all-round development and progress of Sharjah.
Members of Tatweer have the opportunity to network with leading local, regional and international companies. They are also continuously updated on the latest economic and social events. Creative ideas and innovative projects presented by young talents are evaluated by members for the possibility of executing them in the public and private sectors.
Tatweer offers organisations that sponsor its events and programmes the privilege of promoting them and highlighting their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes. Sponsors are also given the opportunity to participate in the seminars, sessions and workshops organised by the forum. They are also listed in Tatweer’s database, website and leaflets.
