The Technology Company SIDSA is seeking expansion into the International DTT market by providing broadcasters and operators with tools to develop pay DTT services through its Conditional Access System KeyFly and its DTT headend platform, POLARplus.

November, 15TH  2007- The Spanish technology company SIDSA, pioneer in DVB-H mobile TV, is now targeting on the Digital Terrestrial TV market to help broadcasters and operators develop cost-effective pay DTT services with a minimum investment. The company showcased its products during the recent Broadcast Show in Madrid.

Pay DTT
Its KeyFly Conditional Access System (CAS) is successfully protecting the Spanish Football League TV rights in the Middle East and North of Africa within the pay-TV platform, Al Jazeera Sport Channel, whose pre-pay model is proving to be a success for the third consecutive year.

In addition, in Spain, SIDSA has joined forces with the pay platform Boulevard Digital, the electronic manufacturer SIEMENS-InOutTV, the Consultancy firm SDIdigital, the operador Telecom Castilla-La Mancha and the TV producer Mediapro, shareholder in the commercial TV channel La Sexta, to launch a pay DTT pilot that offers pay-per-view football matches from the Italian Football League, as well as successful films from the producers Filmax and Manga Films. It is one of the first pay-TV initiatives on DTT in Spain and forms part of the project called “DTT Digital Alcázar”, the first successful case in the South of Europe of “DTT Digital Island”.  The broadcasts are encrypted using the KeyFly system, a Conditional Access System that includes a reinforced key in a chipset connected to the DTT set-top-box that prevents hackers from identifying the codes as they are not in the waves, but in the heart of the chipset.

Local digital TV
SIDSA’s POLARplus platform is a DTT headend that is specifically designed to match the cost-effectiveness that local DTT broadcasters require. Besides it can be perfectly combined with KeyFly CAS to allow providing of pay-TV services with a minimum extra investment.

POLARplus is a flexible and scalable headend (also available in ultra-compact format) that processes the DTT signals before being broadcasted and it is compatible, enabling smooth transitions, with both MPEG-2 and H264.AVC (MPEG-4), the new encoding system that is gaining momentum in the market for its greater capacity.
