Silkor Laser Medical Center, the industry pioneer and the MENA region’s leading chain of laser hair removal, laser medico-aesthetic, and skin treatment services, has announced its plans to open nine new centres as part of its strategic expansion agenda in the region from the UAE.
The announcement to open new Silkor centres comes amidst unprecedented demand for laser medico-aesthetic procedures in the region, which has witnessed a whopping increase in the last year. The new Silkor centres will cater the rapidly increasing demand for such procedures at world-class venues.
The expansion will get under way with the openings of fully-equipped Silkor centres at Al Ain and Qatar within the month of September 2010. The first phased expansion will witness Silkor centres opening across prime locations in Ras Al Khaimah and Oman, besides additional four branches in Lebanon by end of 2010 followed by Kuwait, Bahrain, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Cyprus end of 2011. This expansion is primarily driven by the wide acceptance and demand for Silkor services from customers in the region.
This development will be supervised and directed by Silkor Headquarters in Downtown Solidere Beirut scheduled to open September 30th 2010 with offices spread across 3000 square meters.
The Al Ain centre, located at Al Ameriya, Jimi District, will be equipped for treatments by September 2010. Spread across 600 square meters, the centre offers the entire spectrum of laser hair removal, laser medico-aesthetic and skin treatment services as other Silkor centres.
In comments on the major expansion plans, Lara Tarakjian, Executive Director at Silkor Group of Companies, said: “Silkor was the first to introduce the Laser Hair Removal services to the Middle East and has since then revolutionized the laser medico-aesthetic world. Silkor has become the leading and fastest growing laser hair removal, laser medico-aesthetic and skin treatment service provider in the region. These openings reinforce our ambitious growth plans and support our strategic objective of being more accessible to our valued customers.”
She added: “Consumers in the Middle East are increasingly perceptive and cognizant of aesthetic appeal as they wish to look and feel good. Laser medico-aesthetic services are no longer a luxury but part of daily routines. Silkor offers customer service, convenience and results.”
Through this aggressive expansion, Silkor aims to reinforce its legacy of leading the laser medico-aesthetic industry to new levels of innovation. “At Silkor, we are focused on developing and delivering premium laser services and treatments aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction and convenience – values we have cherished and successfully achieved over the last 13 years,” said Amal Rashkidi, Corporate Medical Director at Silkor.
“Amidst this stimulating progression, we anticipate to boost our commitment to excellence while remaining up-to-date with the latest development in laser medical equipment, services and proficient standards for our customers. Silkor has earned its reputation for delivering personalized treatments.” added Rashkidi.
The Silkor centre at Al Ain will provide state-of-the-art facilities and services tailored for each customer. “All Silkor’s treatments are FDA approved and are executed by highly qualified medical personnel and supervised by a team of dermatologists. As a key step in this direction, Silkor is offering identical comfort, experience, ambience and world-class service standards to customers across countries,” said Rashkidi.
Silkor Dubai was the flagship of the vision for growth in the region, as it was the first centre to operate outside Lebanon. From then on Silkor’s mission has broadened to spread across the Arab world. This variety in the latest Laser expertise allows Silkor to fully customize its treatments to each individual with the promise of positive results.
ABB solution helps Kuwait Oil boost efficiency
State-of-the-art ABB SCADA system increases efficiency and strengthens network management for Kuwait Oil
Kuwait City, Kuwait - September 1, 2010 – An ABB supervisory control and data acquisition solution is enabling Kuwait Oil Company to monitor, control and track the production, transfer and flaring of gas and condensate throughout its entire production assets, including 2,000 km of pipelines, 21 gathering centers and the world’s second largest oilfield, Burgan.
The solution has enabled Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to improve the efficiency and management of its vast network of surface production assets in Kuwait by providing real-time data on the volume of natural gas and condensate produced, and its transfer between the oil and gas fields and Kuwait’s three refineries.
Known as the ‘Telemetry for gas and condensate networks project,’ the solution is the cornerstone of one of KOC’s most pressing strategic targets: to reduce gas flaring from an average of 11.3 percent in 2006-07 to 1 percent in 2010-11. The resultant gain in gas revenues and reduction in CO2 emissions will be substantial.
Most of Kuwait’s gas and condensate is a byproduct of oil production. As Kuwait is the world’s fourth largest producer of crude oil and has the world’s second largest oilfield (Burgan), KOC’s gas and condensate networks are correspondingly large.
They extend across much of the country and include 2,000 km of pipelines, 21 gathering centers where the gas and condensate is separated from the oil, four gas booster stations where the gas is treated and compressed, and 36 unmanned field stations.
Since 2009 the gas and condensate networks have been equipped with an ABB supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system that controls each asset in the network and measures the volume of gas and condensate as it flows through the system to the refineries.
The solution controls vital parameters like flow, pressure and temperature at critical points in the networks. It detects leaks, measures flaring and calculates the revenue loss; and it enables gas to be diverted from one network to another, and pipelines to be shut down by remote.
Its most important function is to provide KOC management with real-time information on the performance of its assets by providing reports, history sheets, critical messages and alarms – all of which maximizes efficiency by tracking product flows and measuring leaks and flaring with precision.
Even after only a short period of operation, KOC is so impressed with the results of the telemetry system that it is basing future projects on the ABB solution. ABB has subsequently been selected by KOC to provide a control and data acquisition solution for a new 140 km gas pipeline and to connect a new booster station to the telemetry system.
ABB was responsible for supplying and integrating the solution parts – including SCADA, leak detection, management information system, telecom and instrumentation - into a fully integrated telemetry system.
