There is a flying ball, a disappearing assistant, a secret code that needs to be broken and a hat that eats up all the silk scarves that you put in it – if you are up for such magical moments and more then you should make your way to the Magic Play zone in the Central Hall of Modhesh Fun City. Here little ones get a quick session of magical demonstrations, learn tricks and enjoy themselves as the entire frolic behind abracadabra is redefined.

Josephine Guerra, one of the attendants at the zone explained, “We have four main magic tricks that we teach the children – the floating ball, the magic cap, the curious curtains and the secret code spell. The tricks are simple and easy to learn. It is good fun to see the little children crowd around when the demonstrations are in progress. To them magic tricks are real and it isn’t about the quickness of the hands. Most of them watch magic shows on TV and find it amazing. They ask a lot of questions; sometimes we get cornered and don’t have a reply for them but its fun all the same.”

At the zone the children are not only taught the tricks but they are also given the opportunity to be a magician. A very cute, pint size, black cape has been made available with black cap and wand intact for the young ‘Houdinis’ to take to the stage and enthral their audience. “The glimmer in their eyes, the wide smiles and the excited awes that the children share at this zone make it a must visit stop over for one and all. It is especially popular among preschoolers and often we have children a little older volunteering to play the host magicians!” added Josephine.

“The magic doesn’t end with the tricks we teach; we have a pair of identical twin sisters volunteering at this zone - Fatemah Mustafa Al Balooshi and Zainab Mustafa Al Balooshi. Sometimes they play tricks with the kids and we love to see their puzzled faces when they see the girls together at the end of the act!” she laughed.
