US and British warplanes have violated Iraq’s airspace in a “desperate bid to impair (the) solid will of (the) Iraqis and (to) undermine Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”, the official Iraq News Agency reported Tuesday.
A Spokesman for the Iraqi air defense command told the news agency that on Monday, US and British warplanes violated Iraq's space coming from their bases in Kuwait, backed by AWACS inside their bases in Saudi Arabia and E2C inside the Kuwaiti territories carried out 34 armed sorties.
He added that the “enemy ravens patrolled civil areas”.
"Iraq’s defense units repulsed the enemy planes and forced them to retreat to their bases in Kuwait", the spokesman further added. (Albawaba.com)
