This week sees Dubai host the biggest and most prestigious social gathering of the Middle East oil industry’s top executives with the Oil Barons’ Ball 2006 – the largest-ever in the three-year series - opening at the Nad Al Sheba Golf and Racing Club on Wednesday evening.
Up to 2,000 senior decision-makers from some of the major regional energy sector players including, Shell, Dubai Petroleum, Schlumberger, National Oilwell Varco and Energy City Qatar, are due at the event.
“This ball is growing in stature every year and is now the unchallenged social event for one of the most important economic sectors in the Middle East,” said Eileen Michael, Publisher, Reflex Publishing, event organiser and the name behind Pipeline magazine, the monthly trade publication for the region’s energy sector.
Topping the bill at the ball are two of the world’s finest ‘Motown’ tribute bands - The Drifters and The Four Tops - who will come together for a 15-piece finale to close the evening.
The Ball will also witness the ‘crowning’ of the fourth Middle East Oil Baron - judged by his peers to have had the greatest impact in promoting the regional energy industry.
“Additionally, a competition for the ‘Aftershock Best Dressed Woman’ title is being staged for the first time, which will definitely create some excitement for the ladies,” said Michael.
The Oil Barons’ Ball is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al Maktoum, President, Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai and Chairman of the Emirates Group.
