The US State Department authorized the departure of staff family members and non-emergency employees of the US Embassy in Bahrain, citing the threat of "terrorist" attacks.
"The department has received information that extremists are planning attacks against US and other Western interests in the Kingdom of Bahrain," the department said in a statement, quoted by AFP. "Credible information indicates that extremists remain at large and are planning attacks in Bahrain."
