Deira City Centre has maintained its stature as one of the leading shopping malls in Dubai with a strong mix of retail and entertainment offers. And each year, the shopping experience becomes even more exciting with huge discounts, new promotions and big events being offered during the Dubai Shopping Festival.

Despite the arrival of new shopping centres that have sprouted all over the city, the popular mall has retained a strong foot-fall among shopping aficionados, residents and tourists from around the region.

Kazakhstan’s Katrina Tolokova has been a resident for a good number of years, and has seen the ever-evolving retail landscape in Dubai. “My favourite has to be Deira City Centre. I like the mix of shops and brands, both middle-market and expensive ones. I can find some of the best shops for casual and office wear, and really good ones for my parties and social events.”

Now celebrating its 15th edition, DSF has successfully attracted tourists from the GCC and around the world to come to Dubai to participate in the region’s leading shopping, leisure and entertainment event. Deema Al-Khareiji from Saudi Arabia has been coming back here for DSF for the last three years. “I love coming to Dubai, but most especially during DSF because of the big sale,” she quipped. “The atmosphere here is fantastic and you see a lot of people from all over the world coming together to have fun.”

Deema says she has been to other malls, and has visited a number of tourist spots along with her sister. “This year, we came to swim with the dolphins and that has been one of the best experiences so far. But, shopping is still on top of our list and we like to do it in Deira City Centre because of the variety of stores. There are plenty of shops offering great clothes and accessories for girls, but there are also shops where I can buy stuff for my family as presents to take back home.”

Another tourist from Saudi Muath Al-Abdulgadei, who has been in Dubai for three days, have so far spent his holiday going around the many shops in the mall. “There are plenty of shops that I really like, such as Pull and Bear. Plus the entertainment is fantastic,” he added.

Deira City Centre’s strategic location has also been a big plus for tourists. Easily accessible by public transport – with a Metro station close by, and a number of buses passing through the area, the mall attracts a good number of shoppers because of its location. Angela dela Torre, a Filipina, loves to shop in Deira City Centre. “The location is perfect as it’s close to where I live and it’s very accessible. In addition to some really good brands for clothes, I like bringing my friends to have some snacks or eat out in this mall. There are very good cafes and restaurants that serve some fantastic food.”
