ALBAWABA- Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of Sudan's Sovereignty Council, has embarked on a visit to Turkey where he is scheduled to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
This visit holds the primary objective of addressing mutual concerns while engaging in discussions on bilateral relations and shared interests between the two countries.
Al-Burhan's expressed readiness in June 2023 to consider Turkish initiatives for ending the conflict in Sudan adds significance to this visit.
During this brief visit, one of the key topics on the agenda will be the potential supply of Turkish drones to the Sudanese military.
While the Sudanese army had previously acknowledged the possession of drones without specifying their origin, emerging sources suggest that these drones are of Turkish origin.
These drones have proven highly effective, particularly in the context of urban warfare.
Accompanying Al-Burhan on this diplomatic mission are prominent figures from Sudan's government.
Notably, this marks Al-Burhan's fifth visit of its kind since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan in mid-April of the previous year. His previous visits took him to Egypt, South Sudan, Qatar, and Eritrea as part of Sudan's diplomatic efforts to seek solutions to the ongoing crisis.
