Fatal twin bombings hit Damascus

Agence France-Presse reported Thursday that two bombings and mortar fire killed three and wounded 22 near the Ummayad mosque in Syria's capital.


According to Syrian state news SANA, "Three people were killed and 22 wounded in terrorist attacks with mortar rounds and the explosion of two bombs."


The bombings targeted Mardam Bek Street in the Klassa district near the famous mosque and close to the Hamidiyeh market.


Rebels have often targeted this area in past weeks, according to the report.
