Following comments by the Israeli defense minister on Sunday that Israel was behind the attack on Syria on Tuesday night, Syrian President Bashar al Assad has hit out at the Jewish state, Reuters reported on Sunday.
According to Syria's state news agency SANA, Assad said Israel was trying to destabilize his country but that he would be able to confront any "current threats... and aggression."
His comments referred to the Israeli attack on Tuesday night that hit a research center close to the Syrian capital. The U.S. and Israel both claim that the Jewish state was targeting anti-aircraft missiles that the Syrian regime were sending Hezbollah, in Lebanon.
Israeli defense minister, Ehud Barak, said on Sunday during his speech at the Munich Security Conference that he believed the weapons were bound for the militant group.
