Six rebel groups fighting in Syria have called on the two major rival rebel branches to end their fighting in the north of Syria.
The six rebel groups released a statement late Wednesday in which they urged the rival factions to "cease the fire immediately" and resolve their differences, ideological or otherwise, before an Islamic court, the Associated Press reported.
In the north of Syria, fierce infighting between rebel factions is being led by Al Qaeda's Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant and the Western-backed Free Syrian Army's Northern Storm brigade, AP said.
Infighting between the rebels has become increasingly common in the now two-and-a-half-year-old Syrian war.
The statement made by the six rebel groups was circulated by the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which uses a network of activists and professionals on the ground in Syria to report on the conflict.
An Observatory statement earlier this week revealed that more than 115,000 people have died in the conflict, which began with peaceful pro-democracy protests in 2011.
Among those that signed the appeal are the Islamic Army and the Tawheed Brigade, according to AP.
