Syrian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Farouk Al-Sharaa received in Damascus on Saturday, Francois Jerau and accepted his credentials as new French Ambassador to Syria.
During the meeting, talks focused on latest regional developments, the Iraqi issue, and cooperation between Syria and France in the UN Security Council, SANA news agency reported. Sharaa, for his part, expressed hope that Jerau would succeed in his duties and welcomed French President Jacques Chirac's upcoming visit to Syria next month in reply to President Bashar al-Assad's invitation.
