Syrian Foreign Minister receives PLO Political Bureau Head

Syrian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Farouk al-Sharaa, received in Damascus on Wednesday Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Political Bureau Chief, Farouk Al-Qaddoumi and his accompanying delegation.  

 

The meeting, which was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister, Sulaiman Haddad, and the PLO Damascus Representative, Mahmoud Al-Khaldi, focused on the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and the “sufferings of the unarmed Palestinian people due to the Israeli brutal aggressions”, the official Syrian Arab news agency reported.  

 

For his part, al-Sharaa stressed the necessity for finding out an effective Arab stand based on the recent Beirut Summit resolutions to put an end to the Israeli aggressive policy. The PLO official, on his part, expressed the Palestinian people’s appreciation for the support Syria provides to the Palestinian cause, SANA added.  

 

Later on, Qaddoumi, in a statement to reporters, described his meeting with al- Sharaa as “important and positive” and added that, (Israeli Prime Minister Ariel) “Sharon(s) government doesn’t want peace and provokes the Palestinian people every time there is a peace chance in the prospect” he conveyed.  

 

Qaddoumi further said that the Palestinian people are fighting for a just cause and in order to defend themselves with different means. (Albawaba.com)
