The Association of Syrian Lawyers announced Saturday it was preparing documents laying the ground for the trial of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon as a war criminal.

The association said that an ad hoc committee had been established headed by Ahmad Eidou to prepare evidence and documents to bring Sharon to justice.

The committee, comprised of eight of the most prominent Syrian lawyers is charged to find out the most effective ways of trying the Israeli Prime Minister, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency IRNA.

Syrian legal and judicial bodies are duty-bound to provide the ad hoc committee with required help and support.

Earlier, Syrian Foreign Minister Farouq al-Shara strongly criticized the repeated incursions of the Israeli regime, calling upon the international community to stop these atrocities in the occupied territories.

The Syrian Foreign Minister condemned the double-standard policy of the United States government on Middle East developments.

With regards to the cycle of violence in the Middle East in light of Israel’s incursions into Palestinian lands and southern Lebanon, the Minister called for Muslim states to mobilize efforts to bring the Israeli violent acts to an end. (Albawaba.com)
