Reuters reports that Syrian state media claims al-Nusra Front fired mortars at civilians in Damascus on Thursday.

The rebel-held suburbs of Damascus have been the site of increased fighting in recent days. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reports that two days of airstrikes preceded Thursday's attacks.

At least one civilian was reported killed in the Mezzeh neighborhood, according to Reuters. No official count of the wounded and killed has been released.

The al-Qaeda-affiliated Nusra Front has lost major territory near Aleppo in recent weeks. The militant group is fighting against Daesh, Syrian regime forces, and other Syrian rebel groups.
