ALBAWABA - According to a report by AFP, Taliban authorities in Afghanistan executed a convicted murderer by gunfire at a sports stadium, in the sixth public execution since their return to power in 2021.

According to an AFP correspondent on the scene, the man was shot three times in front of thousands of bystanders in Gardez, the provincial capital of Paktia.

Afghanistan's top court identified the guy as Mohammad Ayaz Asad and stated in a statement that he was "sentenced to retaliation punishment" for shooting another man, Habibullah Saif-ul-Qatal after his case was "examined very precisely and repeatedly".
